Truck drivers have to keep moving across the state, and many were making stops in the Basin Wednesday before continuing west, or heading out to the east. With poor road conditions in Abilene and the Metroplex, these drivers are gearing up for a tough drive.
"The further east you go there's a lot of ice on the road, all the way to Dallas," said David Chamberlain, a truck driver from Kentucky. "Accidents everywhere on both sides of the road, and roads shut down going east."
"I had to cheat and go the Southern way because I wanted to avoid the Abilene area along Interstate 20," said Manuel Rodriguez, a truck driver from Houston.
The drivers also said they are packing extra food in their trucks, along with plenty of extra blankets, in case something goes wrong and they get stranded.
