DALLAS  --  Cold temperatures and icy conditions are putting a strain on the power grid in Texas.

ERCOT, which manages the electric grid for most of Texas, ordered rolling blackouts across the state, with most lasting about 15-minutes. Around 2pm Wednesday ERCOT ended the blackouts across the State.

Tens of thousands of homes and businesses are without power in Texas today, including about 44-thousand in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Officials with the Oncor power company say they have about 15-hundred workers helping to restore power.

However, treacherous road conditions are hampering restoration efforts.
