Mummies Safe After Cairo Museum Break-In

CAIRO, EGYPT -- Egypt's mummies are fine, but dozens of other artifacts in Egypt's national museum need restoration after a break-in last week.
The head of Egypt's antiquities authority has reassured the public that earlier reports of two mummies damaged during protests were untrue.
The break-in came as Egyptians poured into Cairo streets calling for the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak.
Among the damaged goods is a statue of boy pharoah King Tutankhamun.
Zahi Hawass, Egypt's leading archaeologist, insisted on his website that the nation's cultural treasures were safe.
He wrote, quote, "The Valley of the Kings is safe, the pyramids are safe." Hawass added that Egypt's 24 museums and numerous synagogues, monestaries and Muslim holy sites were also unharmed so far.
