Study: Kids With Working Moms Gain More Weight

There's bad news for working moms.

A new study in the journal "Child Development" shows a correlation between the length of mother's employment and weight gain in her kids.

For instance, researchers found most third-graders in their 900-child study packed on about a pound for every six months their mothers worked.

The weight gain got worse as kids grew older.

Study authors say factors such as an increase in the fast food kids with working moms sometimes eat or what activities they do in after-school care might be contributing factors, but there was no "smoking gun" behind the weight gain.

Study authors also stress that moms leaving the workforce wouldn't solve the problem.
