MIDLAND/ODESSA -- Verizon customers rejoice. The iPhone is here.

After months of speculation, the Apple product finally made it's debut on the new network and ended AT&T's lock on the phone.

Customers have been waiting to get the phone on the Verizon Network because they believe the service is very strong and they won't have the same problems with dropped calls that AT&T customers have.

"A bunch of my friends have service with AT&T and they have the iPhone which they get to go on there and do a lot of stuff but they also have a lot of dropped calls," said Verizon customer Silvia Rodriguez. "So, I've been a Verizon customer for many years and really haven't had that problem."

There are a few differences between  Verizon and AT&T's phone.

Verizon's iPhone has the capability of being a Wi-Fi hotspot. It will be able to connect up to 5 devices to the internet at one time.

The placement of the volume buttons are a little different which means any tight fitting AT&T case you own won't fit on a Verizon model. The antenna is also in a different spot but that doesn't mean you still won't get the reception issues.

One advantage that AT&T still has is that you are able to hold a conversation and browse the web at the same time. Verizon is not able to do that because they have a different software that runs on their network.

AT&T is responding to Verizon's launch of the iPhone by offering its customers an unlimited mobile-to-mobile plan. This will allow them to call anyone including their Verizon friends without having to worry about using up their minutes.

The lines at Verizon stores in Midland and Odessa were small Thursday -- the first day the phone was available to new customers. That may be due to the fact that Verizon still has some of the best Android phones on the market or that they made the phone available February 3rd to existing customers. But Verizon still has big expectations for one of the best selling phones on the market.
