MIDLAND -- Two Midlanders are behind bars, after they were accused of trying to run a woman off the road and assaulting her at a gas station.

Bertrand Tucker, 53, and Jessica Negrete, 28, were arrested late Wednesday night. According to an arrest affidavit, Tucker got into an argument at the Coventry Pointe Apartments with 30 year-old Sherrie Davis Plummer, after Plummer refused to give back a truck she'd borrowed from him.

Plummer took off, but Tucker and Negrete followed her onto Loop 250 in a Ford Explorer and tried to run her off the road several times in a high speed chase.

Eventually, Plummer got out of her vehicle at the Stripes on Midland Drive and Briarwood. That's when Negrete and Tucker allegedly followed her inside and punched her, leaving a bruise on her face.

Negrete is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Tucker was arrested but not charged.
