Nearly 800,000 Child Safety Seats Recalled Over Harness Issue

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling close to 800-thousand child safety seats because of a defective harness locking mechanism.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall is for certain models of the company's Cosco, Maxi-Cosi and Safety 1st car seats made from May 2008 through April 2009.
The harness adjustment strap can loosen around the child, raising the risk of injury in a crash.
Dorel will provide consumers with a tube of non-toxic lubricant that can be applied to the harness release button so the strap stays in the locked position.
