It's called synthetic marijuana. But it's also known spice, genie or the most popular name -- K2. Because most of packages are labeled with the words "not for human consumption," it can be legally sold as incense.
The product will give you a similar "high" to smoking real marijuana.
The big problem with the so called drug is that it's very easy for children to purchase. And with names like "Mr. Nice Guy" or "Spice," some people don't realize it's dangerous. The truth is, it contains many chemicals that can cause dangerous reactions.
There are currently 12 states that ban the sale and use of the synthetic drug with many more states considering legislation. Several cities in Texas -- including Big Spring -- have voted to ban the substance with a state ban likely to come soon.
Synthetic marijuana is something that parents of teens need to be aware of. Parents should get a hold of the facts and what it can do and sit down with their children and talk about the dangers that synthetic drugs can pose.
