LUBBOCK -- The prosecution has rested in the trial against a former principal at the West Texas State School in Pyote.

Prosecutors called more than 12 witnesses to the stand. These included 5 former inmates from the school who say they were sexually abused by Hernandez in 2005. Hernandez is facing 11 counts for the alleged abuse, including a sexual assault charge.

Prosecutors say Hernandez gave students special treatment and favors before molesting them. The defense says that inmates made up stories of the abuse years ago so that they could get transferred to another facility.
