Man Shot Dead In Odessa

ODESSA -- One man is dead after an early morning shooting in Odessa.

This shooting happened at 23rd and Muskingum around 4:20 AM Friday. A homeowner  saw several people trying to break into his vehicle to steal some copper wire. Odessa Police say the man yelled at the suspected burglars and fired a weapon at them. The suspects then took off in a vehicle.

Rodney Allen Burns, 53, was shot in the incident. Burns was dead by the time paramedics arrived.

Police have since arrested Tanya Lynn Whitehead, 34, and David Allen Whitehead, 30. Both are charged with felony theft of cpper wire.
