ODESSA -- An E.C.I.S.D. principal has been charged with giving a false report to a peace officer.

The Ector County Attorney's Office charged Jan Brown with a misdemeanor Tuesday, after they say she gave false statement to investigators about some invoices.

Brown is the principal at Barbara Jordan Elementary in Odessa. She was placed on administrative leave on January 14th, after the district called in the Texas Rangers to investigate a discrepancy in the school's activity fund. The Rangers turned the case over to district police earlier this month.

Brown will retire from the district on April 30th. No court date has been set yet.
