MARATHON -- Earlier this week, Big 2 ran a series of stories about Marathon I.S.D. -- The Tiny School District That Could.

The district of only 56 students had been struggling for years to get by. They faced a looming threat of consolidation with Alpine -- a district 30 miles away.

But, with the help of the community, the district is back in good shape. They have set up what's known as the Marathon Foundation, which has already helped the school provide scholarships and grants to students who attend the school.

After the story aired on Big 2, we got an e-mail from an anonymous viewer who was so touched by the story that they donated $4,000 to the Marathon foundation. With this donation, the school will be able to provide even more incentives for their teachers and students.
