Yirmeyahu David was arrested on Saturday. According to an arrest affidavit, David's mother called police to their residence on west Wall Saturday morning, saying that her son was having health problems. David, 41, then took off in a Lincoln town car, and Midland Police pursued him down Andrews Highway at high speeds.
When David got to Andrews Highway and Midkiff, he reportedly turned around and drove directly toward patrol cars three times, missing all three cars. Then, David turned back around and continued the chase. He was going about 80 miles an hour when he crashed into a light pole.
David reportedly said that he drove at the officers to try and scare them, since he wasn't sure if they were real cops.
David is charged with aggravated assault of a public servant. He's being held on $165,000 bond.
