NEW ORLEANS -- A Monahans man who had been serving a prison sentence for videotaping a teenage girl at a tanning salon had his conviction overturned by a federal appeals court Friday.

The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Alan Ray Steen's conviction, saying the video found on Steen's camera was not sexually explicit.

Steen was sentenced to 15 years in prison for production of child pornography after the April 2009 incident. Steen was caught videotaping a 16-year-old girl as she tanned at the Electric Sun on North Grandview in Odessa.

Steen settled a civil lawsuit with the victim in August 2010. He is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
