MIDLAND -- Midland Fire crews were sent to a house fire Monday afternoon.

The blaze broke out at a home in the 4900 block of Leisure around 1:15 PM Monday. The fire started in the back bedroom of the home and spread quickly, leaving the home with smoke damage.

Luckily no one was home at the time, and eight units were able to get that fire out. No one was hurt, but a dog in the home was killed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
