Attorney For Ector County Escapees Withdraws From Cases

ODESSA -- The defense attorney for two Ector County inmates who escaped from the Ector County Detention Center in January has pulled himself from those cases.
Robert Steven Dudley, 38 and Rickey Lavell Taylor, 32, escaped from the jail on January 29th, along with inmate Russell Rice. All three escapees were arrested hours later.
Attorney David Zavoda was set to represent Dudley and Taylor in their separate trials before the incident. But Zavoda told Big 2 that he can't do that now.
Zavoda believes that the prosecution might work out a plea deal that would make one of the suspects testify against the other. If that happens, Zavoda feels there would be a conflict of interest if he represented both men.
Dudley is charged with aggravated robbery, while Taylor is charged with murder. Both also face felony escape charges for the incident.
