Unconfirmed reports are stating that E.C.I.S.D. might be making cuts of up to 120 staff members because of the statewide budget shortfall. E.C.I.S.D. has not commented to Big 2 on these reports.
But this news shouldn't affect those who work for M.I.S.D. Superintendent Dr. Ryder Warren eased the tension felt by faculty and staff by sending out an e-mail Tuesday morning.
In the email, Dr. Warren stated that he feels that the district is financially strong enough to absorb the cuts for next year's budget. Warren also lays out three methods to balance their budget: Attrition (meaning he will not fill vacancies made by those who leave the district), internal efficiencies (cutting certain programs and departments) and local fund balance (using the healthy savings account that the district has to cover any shortfalls).
