MIDLAND -- A Midland man is behind bars, accused of biting a police officer.

Adam Spinks was arrested Wednesday. According to an arrest affidavit, Midland Police were called to an apartment complex that Spinks, 53, was hanging out at on Wednesday afternoon. After a plain-clothes officer found out that Spinks did not lease an apartment at the complex, the officer tried to question Spinks. Spinks refused to obey the officer's orders and when the officer tried to handcuff Spinks, he bit that officer.

Spinks was arrested, and the officer was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. Midland Police also found out that Spinks was a listed sex offender who had failed to register with Midland Police as he moved around.

Now, Spinks is charged with aggravated assault against a Public Servant and evading arrest. He's being held on $51,000 bond.
