MIDLAND -- On Monday, Midland mayor Wes Perry took time to outline the state of the city. And some familiar topics were brought up -- chief among them, water.

The mayor says there needs to be a long term water plan that will support the city for the next 25 years. The city is working with Abilene and San Angelo to support that plan. But in the past 10 years, the city has seen serious growth, and Perry stressed we need to be proactive.

"It's over 10 percent growth which is significant, and we're seeing that continue even today," said Perry. "So I anticipate we'll see the growth issues with water, transportation."

Perry said there are plans to renovate two fire stations, and build a new one. He also said the council needs to find a way to bring in more affordable housing, without having a negative impact on the community.
