ODESSA -- A prisoner who escaped from the Ector County Courthouse on Wednesday has been captured.

Ryan Drod Thompson was apprehended around 6 PM Thursday in the 1500 block of South Grandview in Odessa, near Interstate 20. Investigators from the Ector County Sheriff's Office, the  U.S. Marshals and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office teamed up to arrest Thompson without incident.

Thompson, 22, was being arraigned on a marijuana charge in the Ector County Courthouse on Wednesday. He was told that he had 3 additional outstanding warrants and was subsequently arrested for those warrants.

As authorities were processing Thompson, he ran out the west doors of the courthouse. He was still in handcuffs when he escaped, and he lost one of his shoes while running.

Authorities spent more than a day searching for Thompson before they were able to capture him. He will now face escape charges along with his original charges.
