ODESSA -- Odessa College is breathing easier, after receiving some good news Wednesday afternoon.

The Texas House Appropriations Committee has now voted to restore funding to Odessa College and three other community colleges that were originally taken out of the House's state budget. The original house proposal killed all funding for the college, while the State Senate maintained funding for the school in their budget. Now, both budgets save O.C.

The word that the school could close sent shockwaves through Odessa. It also led many to write letters to Austin, urging legislators to save the school.
