SCURRY COUNTY -- While everyone has been focusing on the earthquake in Japan, there was actually an earthquake in West Texas recently.

The tremor happened Sunday in Scurry County. But it was barely noticeable, coming in at only 3.8 on the Richter scale. Still, that's the biggest earthquake Scurry County has had in about a year, and it was enough to cause a little shaking.

Since the earthquake was centered 16 miles northeast of Snyder, most people in the area barely noticed.

The biggest earthquake in that area in recent history was a 5.3 earthquake in 1978.
