RANKIN -- No one expected the Red Devils to win district in 2011.

Oh how quickly things change in a year.

This season is full of high hopes for Rankin. The Red Devils will lean on senior quarterback Dalton Michum to lead the offense in 2012. Michum threw for 1,560 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, but this year, head coach Shannon Williams will rely more on the running game to put up points.

"I'm going to expect a lot of things out of Michum," Willams said. "He's actually going to play a lot of tailback as well as quarterback. We're going to try to put the ball in his hands as much as we can and kind of put some weight on his shoulders."

The Red Devils open the season on Sept 1 against Balmorhea.
