Indians Enter 2012 With Low Numbers But High Expectations

FORT DAVIS -- The Indians are gearing up to compete in one of the toughest districts in six-man, but even with competition like Rankin, Garden City and Marfa, the early critics see the Indians doing quite well.
Fort Davis is picked by many to finish second in the district behind Rankin. An explosive offense led by Steven Enriquez has something to do with that. Enriquez threw for 2400 yards, ran for 1200 yards and scored 52 touchdowns in last season alone.
What does hurt the Indians are numbers. The Fort Davis Roster has dropped to as low as 12 heading into the season. Despite this, head coach Jess Roberts is confident his team can compete in a very tough district.
"The kids we have on the field right now are going to be here, work hard, their attitudes are good," said Roberts. "I think where we are in the season and what has happened to us already, I feel pretty good."
