MIDLAND -- Two Midland men accused of beating up a man with a 2 x 4 and then shooting at a nearby home have now been arrested.

John Russell Reed and Matthew Ryan Blain are each charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Midland Police say Reed, 36, and Blain, 20, beat up a man with a 2 x 4 in an alley off of West Washington Avenue on May 27th.

The victim reportedly went to a home in the 1300 block of West Washington Avenue after the attack and asked for help.

However, after the man left the home, police say Reed and Blain drove by in a black Dodge pickup truck and shot at the front door with .22-caliber pistols.

Police say they saw 3 bullet holes in the front door of the home Blain allegedly shot at.

Officers also reportedly found 5 shell casings in the street.

Several people were in the home at the time of the incident, but no one was injured in the shooting.

Reed was arrested on October 23rd. Blain was arrested on May 27th, and subsequently was released on $30,000 bond.

As of Thursday afternoon, Reed was being held in the Midland County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
