Suspect Named In Fatal Howard County Shooting

BIG SPRING -- The Howard County Sheriff's Office has named a suspect in a weekend shooting that left one man dead and another injured.

    An arrest warrant has been issued for Christopher Daniel Marquez.

    Marquez, 19, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but he remained on the loose Monday.

    Howard County Sheriff's deputies believe Marquez was involved in a shooting which happened at around 2:30 AM on October 27th in the parking lot by the old V.F.W. building (at 500 Driver Road) in Big Spring

    Two victims -- Luis Adolfo Pena and Raul Mendez -- were rushed to Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring with gunshot wounds after the shooting.

    Pena, 33, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

    Mendez, 33, was treated at the hospital and later released.

    Meanwhile, deputies continue to search for Marquez, and they say more charges could be coming in the case.

    Deputies say that Marquez is 5'7" tall, and he reportedly weighs 130 pounds.
