GARDENDALE -- TxDOT crews will be making major repairs on the intersection of Highway 158 and FM 1778 east of Gardendale in northwest Midland County on Wednesday, Nov 14, and Thursday, Nov. 15.

The repair project will consist of repairing existing pavement and then putting an overlay on the entire intersection and all four approaches. The work will be done in stages in order to keep the intersection open as much as possible.

Work on the Highway 158 portion will be done on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Work on the FM 1788 portion will be done on Thursday, Nov. 15.

There may be short periods when the intersection may have to be closed completely for work to be done. The exact time of any closures can't be predicted.

Work will start around 7 a.m. and last most of the day each day.

While the intersection will be open to traffic for the most part, motorists are asked to find alternate routes if possible. North-south traffic can use FM 554, Highway 385 or Highway 349. East-west traffic can use Highway 176, Highway 191, Interstate 20 or Business Interstate 20 to avoid the area. Finding alternate routes will improve safety for motorists and workers in the area.

Motorists who decide to use the intersection at Highway 158 and FM 1788 should expect delays.

Motorists are asked to obey any flaggers or warning signs in the area.
