MIDLAND -- The Jewish Philanthropic Union is handing out thousands of dollars to West Texas non-profits ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Jewish Philanthropic Union presented $53,000 in checks on Tuesday.

The organization gave $20,000 to West Texas Food Bank, $30,000 to the American Red Cross of Southwest Texas and $3,000 to AM-VETS (which helps West Texas veterans with food... shelter, and medical assistance).

The Jewish Philanthropic Union earns all its money through Daytime Bingo -- which has been in operation for more than 30 years in Midland.
