State lawmakers in Kansas are learning more about wind energy development.

The Joint Committee on Energy and Environmental Policy met Tuesday to discuss the impact wind energy can have on the state.

One group says wind generation has created more than 12-thousand jobs and brought in nearly a half million dollars.

But it is not all good news.

A federal production tax credit that amounts to a 42-percent subsidy is set to expire at the end of the year, which could leave rate payers picking up that tab.
