MIDLAND-- Bobby Trimble has been building, repairing, and giving back for almost 40 years.

"We got together and we worked on 17 homes that October of 1973," recalled Trimble.

That was the start of Christmas in Action. And since that fateful October Trimble says the non-profit organization has spread throughout the entire country.

"By 2000 we had 254 programs," said Trimble. "At least one in every state."

As a Christian-based program, Christmas in Action aims to repair the homes of low-income, elderly, and disabled residents who are unable to do the work themselves.

"Last year we had 500 projects," stated Trimble. "Some of them were small projects, just heating and plumbing. But we had 500 families last year."

To tackle that workload, thousands of volunteers including 82 year-old Trimble himself, endure countless hours of hard labor.

"It's still good that people can see that I'm not just some big shot," explained Trimble. "You know, that I still get involved."

And since his age isn't stopping him, Trimble says he'll volunteer as long as he can. Because that's what this organization is all about.

"Christmas in action is giving to somebody," said Trimble. "We give of our time, our energy, our materials, our money; so that other people can receive."

Trimble says the organization is always looking for donations or volunteers.
