MIDLAND -- Midland I.S.D. has agreed to buy some land for a new elementary school.

The M.I.S.D. Board of trustees voted to buy 11.5 acres of land west of Grande Communications Stadium in West Midland during the district's December 11th board meeting.

The land -- which will cost the district $222,722 -- would be used to build one of 3 new elementary schools that are being funded by the $163,110,000 bond that Midland voters passed in the November elections.

M.I.S.D. Superintendent Dr. Ryder Warren tells Big 2 that the purchase won't officially go through until the proper papers are filed and signed off on by M.I.S.D. Board of Trustees President Rick Davis.

Still, Dr. Warren says the district is excited to get started on the bond projects.
