North Korean Leader Gives "New Year's Address" Speech

North Korea's leader has made a rare "New Year's Address", making it the first such speech from Kim Jong Un.

His grandfather delivered the last one nearly 20 years ago.

Kim celebrated his Nation's successful rocket launch last month and also spoke about easing tension with South Korea.

In his first New Year's Address, Kim Jong Un told the nation to embark on "an all-out struggle" to overhaul its destitute economy, while striking a conciliatory tone on relations with the South.

Kim says the launch was a "great event which inspires all the service personnel and people with confidence in sure victory and courage and clearly showed that Korea does what it is determined to do".
