MIDLAND---January is Crimestoppers month.  Crimestoppers is a program to help solve local featured crimes and bring criminals to justice.

During the month of January, Crimestoppers will be raising awareness  in the community to let them know that they are here to help, as well as encourage people to give tips on crimes they may know of.

Sergeant Ray Weatherby with the Midland County Sheriff's Office says people in the community are the reason why Crimestoppers is able to catch criminals.

"It takes more community involvement, that's what Crimestoppers is, community involvement" says Weatherby "if it wasn't for Crimestoppers there would've been a lot of crime in this county that isn't solved".

Because Crimestoppers runs on donations, they're looking to people in the community to help keep the community safe.
