MIDLAND -- West Texas has a certain mystique to it.

The West Texas mystique could be appealing to people around the world.

With the tourism appeal of West Texas in mind, the Midland Convention and Visitors Bureau held a tourism summit in the Tall City on Thursday.

The summit introduced some international tour operators to attractions in the Permian Basin and West Texas as a whole.

The Midland Convention and Visitors Bureau wants to stress that vacations to the area aren't just trips to a destination.

Instead, such a trip gives international travelers a chance to experience a change in lifestyle.

"It's always fun to get out of your little envelope or your little or out of your circle and experience life a little differently," Midland Mayor Wes Perry told Big 2. "This is an opportunity for you to do it."

The tour of Midland and the Big Bend is part of a larger statewide push called the Go West Summit.

The Go West Summit -- which culminates with a travel tradeshow in late January -- will attempt to sell tourism in 13 western U.S. states to an international traveling audience.
