BIG SPRING -- Some suspicious grass fires are under investigation in Big Spring.

KBYG Radio in Big Spring reports that Big Spring Fire Marshal Carl Condray is looking into a series of blazes that have broken out on the north side of  the city in recent weeks.

One of the grass fires destroyed an abandoned home along NW 3rd Street on January 25th.

Big Spring fire officials aren't sure if the fires were set intentionally, but they believe that the prevalence of tall grass in the area is fueling the fires.

Fire officials are asking residents to cut their grass, since high winds and fire danger are expected over the course of the week.
