Man Involved In Officer-Involved-Shooting Booked Into Winkler County Jail

KERMIT -- A man who was shot by a Kermit Police officer last week is now behind bars in Winkler County.

    Nicholas Chad Weaver has been booked into the Winker County Jail.

    Weaver, 31, is charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.

    As of Wednesday evening, Weaver was being held in the Winkler County Jail on $100,000 bond.

    Weaver was seriously injured when Kermit Police Officer Donnie Jowers shot him in a scuffle during a traffic stop at the intersection of West Halley Street and Robinson Street around 7:35 PM on January 24th.

    Weaver was flown to University Medical Center in Lubbock after the shooting.

    Weaver was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center when he was released from the hospital.

    The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
