Aurora Victims To Receive Grant Money

People victimized by the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting are getting nearly three million dollars from the Justice Department.

The grant is for the wounded, families of the dead, other theater patrons, first responders and people evacuated from James Holmes' apartment complex

Holmes is the suspect in the shooting.

Police say they found his apartment booby trapped with explosives after the shooting.

After the Oklahoma City bombing, Congress authorized the Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime to set aside up to 50 million dollars a year to help victims of extraordinary circumstances.

The OVC says the money is to help with the physical. emotional and financial impact of terrorism or mass violence.
