BIG SPRING -- The State of Texas is accusing a Big Spring nursing home of threatening the health and safety of its residents.

The Big Spring Herald reports attorney Greg Abbott filed a suit against Sears Methodist Retirement System, Incorporated and Senior Dimensions, Incorporated in the 118th District Court in Howard County last week.

Sears Methodist Retirement System, Inc. and Senior Dimensions Inc. own the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas Veterans Home.

The suit centers around the death of an 87-year-old resident who had been dealing with complications with diabetes before she died.

A Licensed Vocational Nurse reportedly didn't take enough urgent action to save the woman's life, even as her blood sugar levels were critically low.

In the suit, Abbott also claims that the nursing home failed to meet minimum nursing home standards for all its patients.
