ODESSA -- The Odessa Fire Department's Citizens Fire Academy is coming up in March 5th. This program is intended to familiarize and inform customers and associates, of the services the department provides, how they operate, and why they do the things they do.

As people attend the program, the goal is residents will find it interesting, informative and challenging. Participants will be given the opportunity to be "hands-on" with various operations. Performing hands-on operations is strictly voluntary and left up to the decision of the participant.

After completing the program, the departments hopes people take the knowledge of how the Fire Department operates - into the community and share it with friends and associates. The Odessa Fire Department believes participants will able to educate others about the duties, responsibilities and the capabilities the Fire Department has to the community.

Deadline to sign up is February 28th.
