President Obama is ready to announce his choice for budget director.

A senior White House official says Obama plans to nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell to be the next director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Burwell is 47 years old and currently heads the Walmart Foundation.

That's the retail chain's charitable organization.

She previously served as deputy chief of staff for President Clinton.

The stakes are especially high now in the budget director job.

Obama is engaged in a heated battle with the Republican-led House about the size and shape of the federal government's budget.
