Bush -- a former librarian -- will speak at the grand opening for the new Midland County Library Centennial Branch, which will be located at Loop 250 and Whitmire Boulevard.
The grand opening for the new branch will be held on April 13th.
"[Laura Bush will] speak for us -- along with General Tommy Franks, who's already been confirmed -- so we think that's a pretty good one-two punch for us for opening the new library," Midland County Library Director John Trischitti told Big 2. "And they will also both speak at a private foundation fundraiser luncheon [at 12 PM on April 13th]."
Tickets for the fundraiser went on sale Friday.
Meanwhile, several books are already being packed up at the downtown Midland branch of the library for the move to the new facility.
The entire Geneology department will be moved from the downtown Midland location to the new branch as well.
The current Centennial Branch will also be closing this weekend so that books can be moved to the new location.
The new Midland County Library Centennial Branch will have 33,000 square feet of space.
The current Centennial Branch only has 2,500 square feet of space.
