MIDLAND -- The Midland Lee Rebels didn't have to wait long to find a new coach after former coach Hector Limon resigned earlier this month.

Friday,  the Rebels named Brian Roper as the successer.

Roper has extensive experience as a baseball coach. He's coached at both Howard College and Blinn College. In '93, '94 and '96 he was the Western Junior College Coach of the Year. In 2001, he was named the Texas Junior College Coach of the Year.

He played college ball at Texas Tech and was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1989.
