ODESSA -- It has been a historically bad start to the season for the Permian Panthers.

The last time Permian began a year 0-2, gas was thirty cents a gallon and a ticket to the movies cost $1.25.

That was in 1964.

It was last Friday night when the Panther offense sputtered through the first three quarters against Wolfforth Frenship before finally scoring with less than five minutes to play in the game.

Jorrian Wilson did most of the work, rushing for 179 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to cover up crucial mistakes made by Permian.

With district beginning against Odessa this week, head coach Gary Gaines said his team needs to limit turnovers if they want to get a win.

"We've gotta coach better, and we've gotta play better," Gaines said. "Offensively we had two fumbles and two interceptions, and you're not going to get very far offensively with that."
