ODESSA -- A parade of military flags, an honor roll and a balloon release all honored West Texas veterans on Monday.

Una Voz Unida hosted its 2012 "Dia de Los Heroes" celebration at Odessa College Monday.

A number of organizations, including the Odessa High School R.O.T.C., non-profit organization H.O.T. - Honor Our Troops, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.).

"I did survive Vietnam," V.F.W member Luis Reymundo Lopez told Big 2. "[I] almost got killed over there. It is an honor for me to be here, representing the veterans and helping the veterans be recognized by our community."

Sgt. David Perez -- an active-duty service member and organizer with H.O.T. - Honor Our Troops -- was the guest speaker at the event.
