BIG SPRING -- Four teens accused of vandalizing the Big Spring Vietnam Veterans Memorial have been indicted.

According to The Big Spring Herald, Devan James Cook, Anthony Alphonso Lewis, Nicholas Lee Sharp and Kevin Logan Towner are charged with felony criminal mischief of a public monument (more than $1,500 less than $20,000).

Police say Sharp, 17, Towner, 17, Cook, 17, and Lewis, 17 -- all Big Spring High School students -- broke the window of a helicopter on display at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Big Spring on August 26th.

The teens then reportedly stole a mannequin and a clock from the helicopter, along with a World War II- era belt and canteen from the fallen soldier display case.

The thieves reportedly returned most of the stolen items to a nearby maintenance shed on Labor Day with an apology note, but police couldn't find any fingerprints in the area.

Still, officers say the 4 teens confessed to the crime after their arrest on September 10th.

Three of the teens also reportedly admitted to wiping off fingerprints from the stolen items.
