ODESSA -- An Odessa man is accused of stabbing a woman in a parking lot.

Joshua Garcia Chavarria was arrested around 12:40 AM Friday.

Odessa Police say that Chavarria, 30, called a 28-year-old woman and asked her to meet him at a parking lot in the 1500 block of North West County Road.

Chavarria then reportedly stabbed the woman with a knife multiple times.

The woman later underwent surgery for her injuries at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

A witness called police during the stabbing, and officers rushed to the scene.

Officers reportedly found Chavarria by the victim's car and arrested him.

Now, Chavarria is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As of 7 PM Friday, Chavarria wasn't listed in jail records at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
