More gun shows in Connecticut and New York have been canceled in the wake of the deadly Sandy Hook school shooting.

The police chief in Waterbury, Connecticut said he is looking for ways to make his community feel safer.

The city did not issue a permit for the event scheduled for January 12th and 13th.

A New York-based gun show company also canceled three of its shows planned for January, February and March.

All three were to be held within 70 miles of Newtown, where a gunman killed 20 elementary school children and six educators.
