Midland County commissioners went over plans for the expansion during their January 14th meeting.
Commissioners decided to complete the plans and put out a request for proposal -- or advertise bids -- by the end of January.
Commissioners want to build a 50,000 to 100,000 foot multipurpose facility on the Midland County Horseshoe Arena property.
The proposed facility could be used for as many as three events at once.
The proposed facility could cost anywhere from $24 to $26 million to build, but commissioners say it would attract more events to the complex.
Commissioners are also looking at adding a $1.6 million horse barn on the north side of the Midland County Horseshoe Arena property.
Vandergriff Group Architects -- who's working on designs for the project -- has hired a third party estimator to look into costs for the project.
