Authorities are taking the fight against distracted driving to the skies.
A new FAA proposal is aimed at prohibiting airline pilots from using personal electronics at any time during a flight.
Current rules bar the use of any gadgets only during critical phases of flight like takeoff and landing.
The new plan is a direct result of recent airline incidents involving distractions from electronics like computers and cell phones.
One infamous 2009 incident involved a distracted Northwest crew who overshot their destination by 150 miles.
