Big Spring Chief Of Police Lonnie Smith To Retire

BIG SPRING -- For the first time in more than 15 years, Big Spring is looking for a new police chief.

    Lonnie Smith says he will retire on March 30th.

    Smith has already submitted his retirement notice to Big Spring City Manager Gary Fuqua.

    Smith has been a Big Spring Police officer for more than 35 years, and he's been the Chief of the Big Spring Police Department for more than 15 years.

    Recently, Smith has seen the Big Spring Police Department move into the Troy M. Hogue Law Enforcement Center along west Business 20.

    Big Spring Police now share the facility with the Howard County Sheriff's Office.
